Wave Speed
Calculator - This tool (WaveSpeed.EXE) allows
you to calculate the wave speed in a pipe based on liquid
and pipe properties. Wave speeds for both thin-walled pipes
and thick-walled pipes are considered.
Head-Flow
Characteristic Calculator - The Head-Flow Characteristic
Calculation tool (PumpChar.EXE) calculates the coefficients
of the quadratic equation or power fit curve, which passes
through three pump operating data (head-flow) points.
Resistance
Calculator - This
graphical tool (Resistance.EXE) performs six types of resistance
calculations. It computes resistance from head-flow data,
minor (local) loss coefficients, pipe resistance, flow coefficients,
orifice data, and connection to a tank.
Valve
Stroking Calculator - This tool (ValveStroke.EXE)
determines the optimum closure for a valve at the end of a
single pipeline given the closure time, the pipeline properties
and the initial conditions neglecting pipe friction.
Wave Method Calculator
- The Wave Method Calculator (WMC.EXE) illustrates the concept
of pressure wave propagation and transformation through a
network of pipes.
Wave Action
Calculator - The Wave Action Calculator (WaveAction.EXE)
illustrates the concept of wave action at network elements.
It calculates the effects of traveling pressure waves impinging
on components, junctions, and Side Discharge Orifices. It
also computes the effect of a change in the resistance of
a component (valve action) and a change in the speed of a
pump.
Surge Computer
Program - The WCM.EXE is a general-purpose
computer program for pipe network transient analysis. Transient
analysis can be performed using the Wave Characteristic Method
and/or the Method of Characteristic. The WCM program can generate
tabulated and plotted results (head and flow values) at select
locations within the distribution system. The computational
results from both the Wave Characteristic Method and the Method
of Characteristics can be compared by plotting the results
on a single graph.
