GIS For Water and Sewer Modeling course is designed to teach engineers how to apply cutting-edge GIS technologies to real-world modeling applications for water distribution, wastewater, and stormwater systems. This important course includes a balanced mix of background principles and hands-on computer modeling.

The two-day course draws on best practice and MWH Soft's extensive practical experience in assessing and developing GIS-centric and GIS-enabled network modeling applications. Class time is divided among lectures, software demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. Attendees will find out about the various GIS network modeling applications, coordinate systems and spatial references, QA/QC of GIS data, spatial queries and advanced spatial analysis, management of views and hotlinks, integration with geodatabases, and creation of a multi-user editing environment. They will also learn about building a network model directly from GIS and review network topology, clean-up tools, classification schemes, and methods of presentation. The course will address both water and wastewater industry standards, and exercises are designed to explain and illustrate the principles and techniques discussed.

At the conclusion of the course, participants will have complete understanding of the GIS skills needed to build water, wastewater and stormwater network models and databases within a true GIS environment.
