MWH Soft hosted its first International User Conference in Westminster, Colorado, entitled Advances in Geospatial Network Modeling on September 23/24, 2002. Attendance was full house with a remarkable group of professionals including engineers, managers, operators, researchers, academicians, and scientists came to share their knowledge and experience. The conference featured keynote addresses from some of the industry's most prominent experts in the field of water distribution engineering. Presenters from major utilities and top engineering firms in Australia, North America and Europe rounded out the event with a wide variety of innovative solutions to real-world problems.

This informative event provided attendees with two days of content rich technology demonstrations and presentations associated with the latest advances in water distribution modeling, protection, and optimization. It offered attendees a wealth of critical learning and an invaluable forum for exchanging cutting-edge information and proven strategies among the water industry's movers and shakers.

The conference covered all aspects of the operation, production and protection of drinking water distribution systems. It showcased the industry's leading water distribution management, regulatory and security experts for the exchange of the latest technological innovations, practical applications, proven water security measures, and technical information. Presentations included the latest in how to:

  1. Conduct vulnerability assessment and consequence management
  2. Protect and secure drinking water systems
  3. Efficiently operate and manage water distribution systems
  4. Construct all-pipes dynamic operational models
  5. Develop, calibrate, and validate rigorous Water Quality Models
  6. Use network modeling to meet new more stringent water quality regulations
  7. Design, operate and retrofit storage facilities to maintain water quality
  8. Select inlet/outlet and baffling configurations to improve mixing
  9. Use of surge analysis for water quality management
  10. Use of surge analysis to improve model calibration and leak detection
  11. Interface network models with GIS and SCADA system
  12. Perform on-line real-time network modeling
  13. Optimize Capital Improvement Programs
  14. Maximize energy cost savings
