MWH Soft Issues Call For Abstracts, Opens Pre-Registration for
International Geoengineering Conference 2008

Premier Modeling Event for Water and Wastewater Industries Worldwide
Will Explore Power of Tomorrow’s Technology Today

Broomfield, Colorado USA, January 23, 2008 — MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today issued a call for abstracts for its Sixth International Geoengineering Conference (IGC), the most comprehensive and significant network modeling and analysis symposium of its kind. It has also opened pre-registration for the event, slated for September 29 to October 1, 2008, at the landmark Boulderado Hotel in Boulder, Colorado.

IGC is targeted to industry executives and decision makers involved in all aspects of the operation, production and protection of water distribution and urban drainage (sanitary, storm and/or combined) systems. It provides participants worldwide with an interactive forum for showcasing the state of the art in water and wastewater infrastructure geoengineering; facilitating ongoing cooperation and exchange of technological innovations and proven solutions; and discussing the issues, regulatory activities and technological challenges facing the environmental community.

This year’s conference, themed “Advances in Geospatial Infrastructure Modeling and Asset Management Technology,” is expected to attract the foremost engineering, regulatory, technology and security authorities in the water and wastewater industries — making it the largest gathering of geoengineering professionals worldwide. The premier event is sponsored by ESRI and co-chaired by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Nevada; Thames Water, UK; Gold Coast Water, Australia; and the City of Abbotsford, Canada.

“We designed the MWH Soft International Geoengineering Conference exclusively for MWH Soft users, potential users, and partners with special interest in the water and wastewater industries,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH Soft. “We strive to make each conference informative, casual and fun, and we’ve proudly watched this gathering evolve into the leading event in our industries. This year’s conference will offer a wealth of critical learning experiences as well as an invaluable, dynamic forum for networking and sharing cutting-edge developments, real-world strategies and solutions, and best practices. Attending IGC is a terrific way to meet with key industry figures and influential industry pioneers, glean ideas for taking an operation to the next level of productivity, and gain a competitive edge on the future.”

Conference topics will include the latest advances in transient analysis and GIS-centric modeling applications; asset management solution for long-term investment planning; and proven strategies for capital maintenance, interfacing network models with SCADA and maintenance management systems, and developing improved network models. Other subjects include designing effective detection monitoring and unidirectional flushing programs, building large-scale hydraulic and water quality models for IDSE and revised TCR compliance, calibrating network models, reducing inflow/infiltration and improving overflow management with hydraulic modeling, prioritizing investment planning and deterioration work, optimizing design and operations, and improving infrastructure security. The event will also look at the latest developments in other critical areas, including innovative master planning technologies and the role of GIS and Asset Management in improving business performance.

The winners of the MWH Soft 2008 Best Innovation Awards, the company’s highest customer honor, will be announced at the conference networking reception. The awards recognize the exceptional work of a select group of MWH Soft users toward advancing the state of the art in hydraulic infrastructure planning, design, optimization, operations, and management. The winning projects will have a positive impact on the world community for generations, set benchmarks for their industries and showcase the creativity and technical mastery of the organizations that created them. MWH Soft established the competitive award program in 2002. Among the many progressive organizations to receive these prestigious awards are American Water, New Jersey, Butler County Department of Environmental Services, Ohio, Denver Water, Colorado, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Nevada, and the Regional Municipality of Durham, Ontario, Canada,

According to J. Erick Heath, P.E., MWH Soft Vice President of Sales and Client Relations, “Each year, this dynamic conference gives us an opportunity to get close to our customers and partners to share ideas and best practices, discuss technology trends and innovations, and impact software development and enhancement. The leaders who attend IGC comprise the driving force behind the evolution of MWH Soft’s world-class, world-leading products. The conference provides an incomparable opportunity to discover how professionals from around the world are applying the latest developments in hydraulic modeling software to real world situations, meet the demands and challenges of today, and prepare for those that arise in the future.”
