Subcatchment
Manager
The painstaking task of analyzing contour maps
to delineate Subcatchment used to devour time
and money for engineers performing stormwater
design projects. With the advent of the InfoSWMM
Suite, engineers can drastically reduce
the time it takes to develop and interpret continuous
hydrology and dynamic hydraulic simulations.
InfoSWMM Suite is specially designed to utilize
digital topology data to define Subcatchments
and calculate their hydrologic parameters.
InfoSWMM Suite allows users to delineate Subcatchment
boundaries based on Digital Elevation Models (DEMs),
contours, TINs, or point elevation sets. Subcatchment
delineation can then be easily verified with the
overlay of aerial photography or other background
information. The InfoSWMM Suite also includes
tools to augment Subcatchment boundaries and easily
connect Subcatchments to the appropriate raingages
and outlets.
The automation of Subcatchment delineation and
parameter calculation allows water resources engineers
to apply their time to evaluating solutions instead
of performing drudgery. Subcatchment Manager uses advanced processing to prevent delineation of very small subcatchments and vastly increase the accuracy of subcatchments delineated from man-made collection point locations. Subcatchment information
such as area, width and slope are easily calculated
based on the underlying topology. Other hydrologic
parameters such as impervious area and infiltration
rates can be quickly inferred from the available
GIS data for land use and soil types. The seemingly
endless recalculation of parameters every time
a Subcatchment boundary is changed is now as easy
as clicking a button.
The screenshot below shows some of the specially
developed tools included in the InfoSWMM Suite.
